Surface created by set of rotating points
inputs: 3D rotation, rotation angle range and distance from origin

Structural model from a set of hexagons scaled and 3D rotated around centerpoint and morphed into polygons with higher amount of edges - resulting pointcloud was connected by rods - According to a distance between points areas with different structural properties (spatial depth, swarming, bundling) and porosities were distinguished. Aim would be to arcticulate surface accordingly to an input defined by surface itself (curvature, slope, height) as well as develop strategies of interweaving and superimposition of touching surfaces and systems consisting of more patterns combined to achieve hierarchical "subdivision".

The project proposes an urban configuration for Dubai based on smooth continuation as a gestalt principle. The desired effects of the fassade contextualize the latent gestalt transformations of the figurative singularities that belong to multiple latent groups within the urban fabric. This figure-field relationship is superimposed with ambient variables and the surface expressions of the urban proposal. The layering is set up in a parametric model which is driven by six major parameters. It respects the geometry which it is applied to, the lighting condition as well as observer parameters that trigger the transformation of cuts and continuities among the fassade elements.

The perception of line continuity/smooth continuation is closely related to the effect of interference. A superimposition of different flows generates various latent groupings of junction points.
New strong optical figures and flows emerging in the 3-dimensional master plan emphasize the vertical dimension of the system in order to offer better legibility in the first-person-perspective and to accommodate various programs.
The Dubai-specific iconic potential of extending the coastline is translated into a master plan strategy that is able to fade the borderlines of non-related parts in that area.

brief: COMPRESSED COMPLEXITY

Controling global behavior of a surface by systematic management of local deformations. Characteristics of a surface [ global ] closely relate to the kind of local distortion applied to it; for example: Higher structural rigidity could be achieved by Aggregation & densification of the surface grid, this operation simultaneously affects the surface porosity. The overall form of the surface could be controlled & adjusted by defining a series of various local deformations and their interrelated patterns. By reverse-engineering these grid distortions and their patterns, we aim to set a system to allow us predict the global surface behavior & it's relation to various operations. Structural consistence, Formal differentia & surface porosity are set to be the main parameters of the system. This parametric system, once establish, could be utilized to create complex surfaces with transitional characteristics according to programatic demands. Specific conditions could be a result of negotiations between surfaces with different parametric attributes.
